1. Introduction

Writing Planner (writingplanapp.com) is a free browser-based visual story planner with a Visual Planner template library, infinite canvas, seven card types, and rich-text scene editing. This policy explains what data we collect, what stays on your device, and how third-party services are used.

2. What We Do Not Collect

We do not require accounts, passwords, or email sign-ups to use the canvas or templates. We do not upload your story cards, scene drafts, character notes, or uploaded scene images to our servers. We do not sell personal writing content.

3. Local Storage (Your Boards & Projects)

When you create or open a board — including boards cloned from Visual Planner templates — all card content, positions, connections, project titles, and uploaded scene images are stored in your browser using IndexedDB. This data remains on your device unless you export it or clear your browser site data.

Backup tip: Use the toolbar Download button to export JSON backups regularly. Clearing browser data for this site will delete local boards.

4. Template Catalog (Public Read-Only Data)

Template names, descriptions, categories, and blueprint layouts are public catalog content served from our infrastructure (including Supabase) so template pages load quickly and search engines can index them. Opening a template copies a blueprint into your local IndexedDB — we do not associate that action with your identity, and your edited board is not synced back to our servers.

5. Analytics & Advertising

We may use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand aggregate site traffic and Google AdSense to display advertisements that help keep the tool free. These services may set cookies and collect device or usage data according to their own policies. You can manage ad personalization at Google Ad Settings.

6. Contact Form

If you use our Contact page, we receive your name, email, and message via the Resend email API solely to respond to your inquiry. We do not use contact submissions for marketing lists.

7. Third-Party Services

Supabase: Hosts public template catalog metadata and blueprints (read-only for users).
Resend: Delivers contact form messages to our inbox.
Google Analytics & AdSense: Traffic measurement and advertising.

8. Your Rights & Data Control

Because your writing projects live in your browser, you control them entirely. Export JSON backups anytime, or delete all local data by clearing site storage in your browser settings. We hold no user account profile to delete on our side.
